Summary
As Associate Head (Research and Innovation), I lead the strategic planning and implementation of research and innovation activities in the School of Health and Care Professions. My research portfolio relates to the experience of health and wellbeing in the community setting. I teach across a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including leading a second year module for the Professional Doctorate suite of courses, and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Research interests
My research interests lie in the area of the individual perspective, particularly around health and wellbeing in the community setting. I am leading a number of projects, including the impact of health determinants in the local area and understanding who is involved in pressure ulcer prevention for older people in the community, and how, working with colleagues from around the country.
I have an interest in evidence-based practice and how students can be supported to incorporate the use of evidence into their nursing practice, both whilst still students and as registered nurses.
Teaching responsibilities
I teach across several modules, including Evidence based decision-making, Nursing People with Long Term Conditions, Service Improvement Project, and lead the Proposal module for second year Professional Doctorate students. I am a supervisor to several Doctoral students researching a range of topics, including experiences of healthcare in prisons, the use of technology in lifestyle and healthcare interventions, and the role of both healthcare practitioners and parents in care.
