Summary
Joanne joined the University of Portsmouth as Programme Lead in the Police Education Qualifications Framework (PEQF) team, for the degree holder and detective degree holder entry programmes. She was previously a police officer for over thirty years, achieving the rank of detective superintendent with Hampshire Constabulary.
Joanne studied Environmental Science (hydrology and hydrobiology) with Southampton university before joining Hampshire Constabulary in 1991. Whilst working full-time as a detective inspector in public protection Joanne completed a masters degree in International Criminal Justice with the university of Portsmouth achieving a distinction (2013).
Joanne has undertaken a variety of roles within policing including: Force authorising officer with responsibilities for the use of covert tactics including surveillance, communications data and covert human intelligence sources to support investigations, ensuring legal compliance.; Head of special branch representing Hampshire at regional and national levels in respect of issues relating to counter terrorism, domestic extremism and national security; Deputy head of intelligence with startegic responsibility for the provision of 24/7 intelligence support; Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements responsible for the management of dangerous, violent and sex offenders in the ommunity. Joanne was also seconded to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office deployed to Baghdad, Iraq as staff officer to the senior police advisor.
