Biography
I am a Producer/Director with over 20 years of experience working across a range of diverse programming for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 as well US broadcasters including Discovery and National Geographic. My work spans a range of programme genres from ambitious access led documentaries to returning factual series, and much of my work has covered global stories and issues.
I have explored many challenging subjects like mental health, crime, gender based violence, drug trafficking, terrorism and racism. My work has taken me across the world, sometimes working in challenging situations. I am interested in ways to authentically tell stories and like to work closely with contributors as this helps to ensure a certain type of engagement.
The films I have been involved with have won and been nominated for RTS, New York Film Festival and been nominated for BAFTA.
I currently lecture on the BA (Hons) Film Production, BA (Hons) Television Production and MSC in Film and Television
Research interests
I am researching the changing face of documentary film production in the UK in light of the current commissioning freeze and industry reset. I am interested in the impact this has on diversity both behind the screen and in terms of funding and storytelling.
I am also researching several projects on gender and political issues in the global south.
