Dr Abu Saifullah
Biography
I am a senior lecturer in the school of mechanical and design engineering (SMDE) of University of Portsmouth, UK. I joined the school in August, 2019 with teaching and research responsibilities. I completed my bachelor degree in Textile Engineering from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. I studied Advanced Materials in my masters degree at University of Bolton, UK funded by United Nations Industrial Development Organisations (UNIDO) BEST Fellowship scheme. I did my PhD at Bournemouth University, UK in collaboration with Longitude Consulting Engineers Ltd. UK on fracture properties analysis of rotationally moulded plastic materials for using them in small marine leisure craft applications.
After receiving my PhD in July, 2017, I worked in Smithers Rapra and Smithers Pira Ltd. UK as an EU Research Technologist on EU funded ‘PREVIEW’ project for the development of an environment friendly smart predictive manufacturing system for the injection moulding industries. After that I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Karlstad University, Sweden with Prof. Lars Janstrom to develop a bio-based gas barrier and mechanically stable coating inside a Paper Bottle for carbonated drinks application. Before coming to the Portsmouth University, UK, I was working as a research associate at Ulster University, UK in North West Centre for Advanced Manufacturing (NWCAM), led by Prof. Eileen Harkin Jones, where I successfully developed a highly breathable and moisture permeable polymeric tube (AquaVent VT) for intensive care respiratory medical application in collaboration with Armstrong Medical Ltd, UK which is currently being supplied to the NHS for respiratory critical care treatments and also in other 60 countries in the world.
