Summary

Dina joined Portsmouth University in September 2022, where she teaches a range of criminology modules, supervises dissertations and coordinates the module 'Crimes of the Powerful'. Dina has taught sociology and criminology at Southampton University, and coordinated two modules at Solent University (Equity and Diversity at Work and Migration and Refugees). Dina has taught in FE and HE since 2001, and started teaching Sociology in 2006. She was the Equality and Diversity Co-ordinator at Barton Peveril College for 7 years and was also a Staff Governor at Barton. 

Biography

After completing her BA (Hons) in Spanish and Portuguese Studies and an MA in Marketing at Portsmouth University, Dina graduated with an MA in Transnational Studies (Southampton University), a PGCE in Post Compulsory Teaching and in 2010 she was awarded a PhD from the University of Southampton on transnational (Cuban/European) relationships. Dina is a member of the Cuban Research Forum.

Research interests

Dina's research focuses on race, gender, migration, but also on love and deviance. She is currently researching sex work in the UK and is writing about childhoods in war affected areas.
