Summary

I am a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Financial Management.

My research focuses on political, societal and cultural influences on the management accounting and control system, as well as the operation of multinational corporations in global settings. My current study includes case studies in Chinese and African contexts. I am experienced in qualitative research and data analysis.

My main teaching area is management accounting, and I am also responsible for dissertation supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I am happy to discuss and take PhD supervision. 

 

Biography

I joined the Faculty of Business and Law as a Lecturer in Accounting & Financial Management in 2016, becoming a senior lecturer in 2019.

Prior to this appointment, I was awarded my MSc in Accounting and Finance in 2010 and my PhD in accounting in 2015, both from the University of Southampton. I also worked as a part-time lecturer in accounting during my time at Southampton. 

I am a member of The British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA), The European Accounting Association (EAA), and The African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA). I am a journal reviewer for Accounting in Emerging Economy and Critical Perspectives on Accounting

I am an admission tutor for accounting and financial management courses, mainly responsible for international student recruitment. 

 

Research interests

My research interests are Management accounting and control systems; Accounting in emerging economies; Accounting in multinational operations; Political, societal and cultural perspectives of accounting; Critical accounting research; Qualitative accounting research.

My current research focus is on the political and societal role of accounting in multinational enterprises from emerging economies. You can read my recent paper on this area:

I have two working papers (case studies) on the design and use of management accounting in Chinese multinational operations.

Teaching responsibilities

I teach Management Accounting for undergraduate students. I am the module coordinator for Organisations and Accounting (Level 4). I also teach on this module and on Management Accounting (Level 5). Both modules are accredited by accounting professional bodies. 

I supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and PhD students.
