This study aims to understand the relationship between chronic pain and school outcomes by comparing scores on the Year 6 Standardised Assessment Tests for children with chronic pain and children without chronic pain.

Study description

Research in other countries has shown chronic pain to have negative impacts on children's school outcomes including overall grades, attendance levels, friendships, and mental health. This study aims to investigate the relationship between chronic pain and school outcomes in children in the UK. The results of this study will inform further research which aims to improve the school experience of children with chronic pain.

What will participants be doing?

Completing a short (approximately 10-minute) online questionnaire. Questions include demographics, chronic pain status, SATs scores, school attendance rates, and child's emotional wellbeing.
