Beyond the classroom: Real stories of alumni success

Disruptors in football and changing the game. University of Portsmouth alumni Leon Mann MBE and Joel Beya come together at Fratton Park to discuss how their careers have shaped the modern game, the future of equality in football and, of course, their memories of the city and their university days.

Joel Beya is a digital creator and presenter and founded one of the UK's most successful sports platforms, Cheeky Sport. As one of the leading personalities of new football media, Joel presents on MOTDX and also co-hosts one of the biggest football shows on YouTube alongside Rio Ferdinand, 'Vibe with Five', which boasts over 900,000 subscribers.

Leon Mann is a leading sports broadcaster, filmmaker, activist and entrepreneur who has devoted his career to bringing life to incredible stories throughout the world of sport. He is also the founder of Black Collective of Media in Sport (BCOMS), the networking group for black sports journalists Leon set up in 2009, as well as the Football Black List, an initiative Leon co-founded in 2008, which highlights the achievements of black representatives in sport.
