Robotics Research
The field of robotics has been expanding rapidly beyond the traditional confines of industrial manufacturing and automation to become an enabling technology in such areas as rehabilitation, therapy, and assisted living. With the ageing of populations worldwide and a growing emphasis on improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, robotics is becoming critically important in addressing these pressing societal challenges.
Our work integrates several areas in AI, such as computer vision and machine learning, with cloud computing, virtual reality, and advanced sensor and signal processing techniques to create practical solutions for a range of health and wellbeing needs. Examples include applications of robotics in diagnostics and therapy for children with autism spectrum disorders, and in rehabilitation for post-stroke patients.
We are also looking into processing of physiological signals to guide robot movements and to improve interfacing between robots and humans.
