An expert in the history and design of academic dress.
Philip Goff is a founder and first chairman of the Burgon Society, an educational charity that researches the history and design of academic dress, from its medieval origins.
He has been associated with the robemaking industry since he was a teenager, and has written extensively on the subject – including a book on the complicated dress code for University of Portsmouth graduations.
Philip was also the Academic Consultant for Ede & Ravenscroft for ten years, and designed costume for many universities.
In his other life, he was a parish priest for 40 years and a psychotherapist in both the NHS and private practice. He is also a keen beekeeper.
