What you need to get started
Applying to our Work Based Degrees is a personal process – contact us today to find out more
Contact us if you're interested in doing a Learning at Work course, and we'll work with you to identify the right course for you.
You need to be employed or self-employed in a full-time, part-time or voluntary role throughout your studies. Internships are acceptable assuming the internship lasts for the duration of the course. The only exception is the PgCert in Occupational Health & Safety Management where learners don't need to be in work.
When you get in touch, we'll ask you about your previous qualifications and experience and let you know if you can use this as credit towards your degree so you can complete it quicker. We may ask you to attend an informal interview, which can be done in person, by phone or online.
What you need before you start
Courses start in January or September. You should email us at least 4 weeks before your start date, with details of the course you're interested in and your previous qualifications and experience, so we can advise you on your next steps. Once you've contacted us, and confirmed your course choices, you need to:
- click on the 'apply now' link on your chosen course page, and complete the online application form
- upload evidence of your qualifications and any other evidence requested
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) via portfolio
If you're using previous experience as credit towards your degree, we'll need you to submit a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) portfolio at least 10 weeks before the start of the course. This documents all your experiences in work that could count towards credits, and can take up to 6 months to create. We recommend you speak to us to get more details on how to create this portfolio.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) via previous qualifications
If you're using previous qualifications as credit towards your degree, we recommend you contact us and discuss this before you enrol. You can upload your qualifications as you complete your online application, and we'll assess them to confirm whether credits can be allocated to you.
