Making the right choice for you
Be in the know before confirming your decision.
Choosing to study a postgraduate degree is a big decision
Whatever you decide to study, you're not just picking a degree course – you're also choosing a university to join and if you're joining us on campus, a new city to call home.
At Portsmouth, we'll be with you every step of the way. Below, you'll find everything you need to make an informed decision when you choose one of our Master's courses.
Our top tips for researching Master's courses
Follow our steps to finding and applying for a Master's course, and you'll be well on your way to reaching your postgraduate ambitions.
Find the course you want
You might have only just started thinking about doing a Master's qualification, or you might have you hear set on a specific course. Wherever you are in the process, narrow down your search to the courses that fit your situation.
On our course search, filter courses by award, mode of study and start date. This will help you refine your search - so if you want to earn while you study, or join us as a part-time student, you can find the best course.
Think about your career
Whatever your reasons for studying at Master's level, it makes sense to check how a particular course will affect your career prospects. Some jobs require a Master's level qualification, or you could be looking to take an ambitious next step in your current role.
To get an idea of where your course could take you, take a look at your chosen course page to see the kind of roles you could do and any professional recognition you could get.
Check your eligibility
Each course page lists the entry requirements you need to meet to get a place on the course. But because we know there's more than one route into Master's study, if you don't meet all the standard criteria, we still want to hear from you.
You can find a contact on your chosen course page and get in touch with us to discuss your application.
Consider funding options
It's important to consider all the costs of your study - from your tuition fees and other course costs, to your living expenses. Before applying, it's worth taking a look at the costs involved and support you might be entitled to.
In our fees and funding section, you'll find information on budgeting, and advice on what financial support you could receive.
Check out the University
When you're looking at our Master's degrees, consider how you'll be taught, what facilities or clinics you'll be using, and the learning support you can access. You'll find all the information on your chosen course's page.
It's also worth taking a look at the personal wellbeing support you'll be able to access while you're here. We're on hand to help, whenever you need it.
