Academic Committees

The Academic Council oversees three committees, and focuses on everything from courses and the curriculum to the student experience.

Academic Council

The Academic Council is our academic decision-making body and is responsible for all academic matters. Reporting directly to the University Executive Board, it considers a broad range of issues that relate to our academic direction and focus.

University Education and Student Experience Committee

The University Education and Student Experience Committee makes recommendations to the Academic Council on course development, new course approvals, enhancement of student experience, student support and employability. It also oversees the development and delivery of our education strategy, and advises the University Executive Board on potential resource issues.

This Committee is supported via the activities of the University Portfolio Approval Group, the Academic Quality Group and the Education Initiatives Monitoring and Evaluation Group.

University Research and Innovation Committee

The University Research and Innovation Committee advises Academic Council on developing the University's strategy, targets and performance indicators for research and innovation. The committee examines external environment trends and creates a culture that supports impactful research throughout the University.

This Committee is supported via the activities of the Research and Innovation Group, the Research Excellence Framework Steering Group, the University Ethics Committee, and the Animal Welfare and Ethical Review Body.

University Global, Marketing & Student Life Committee

The University Global, Marketing & Student Life Committee advises the Academic Council on matters relating to enhancing the University’s global presence, marketing, and student recruitment efforts for home and international students. It fosters international collaborations, and promotes the University’s brand to reach globally, and ensures that the University’s attracts a diverse and talented student body, whom are well supported throughout their student journey.

This Committee is supported via the activities of the Global Operations and Mobility Group, the Recruitment, Outreach and Admissions Group, and the Student Life and Engagement Group.
